Our family has moved several times in the past five years. We have gained many good friends and specifically - riding friends. This blog is dedicated to all my friends that ride to help keep off the extra pounds (me), to barrel down a mountain while dodging cars (Lee) or for whatever reason. On this blog I would like to hear about your latest race, ride, or planned endurance event. To start off, we have relocated to San Diego and now live where the sun shines - almost all the time. My commute to work is about 12 miles and I have been riding my bike 3x a week. California is nice because employers think about the .05% of employees who actually ride to work. My employer has arranged bike lockers and showers for employees wanting to ride to work. It works out just right. I've stocked my cubicle with all things good from Costco (not as much as Barr) so I am sure I won't go hungry. My goal is to get back to my "race weight" when I was without children or real responsibility. So here's to getting back to 165 one commute to work at a time!
Anyhoo, please tell me all things bike - I really want to hear about it.
Thanks for looking,
Justin

I'm new to blogs and most things that involve cycling, so, my apologies in advance for any apparent cluelessness. It's good to hear that Justin, Abbie, James, and Drew have touched down in San Diego. They will be missed here in Columbus, Ohio. Regarding Justin's goal of achieving "race weight", good luck my carbo-munching friend. I noticed in the sentence before you were commenting on the calorie laden stockpile in your cubicle. I'm sure with all those SoCal hills you'll have no problem getting lean and mean.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I just competed in my first road race. It was very cool. It was exhilarating to ride in a pack of 40 cyclists. I even found myself riding as part of a 7 man paceline during the midportion of the race. At the end, I sprinted to the finish line against another rider who I shared the last 8 miles of the race with. We agreed to "work together" to fend off a group of ten who tried in vain to catch us. I lost the sprint but the day was a victory. My wife and I will be competing in a sprint triathlon this Saturday. This will be Heather's first complete tri and I will be on my new TT bike (photos to follow at some point).
Thanks to Justin for teaching some things about cycling and giving me prerace advice/pointers. Thanks also to Justin for setting up this blog. Later
